At the entrance of the Pilar Monastery there is a small chapel with a modest altar. The altar was dismantled and a decent tomb was set up where the bones of Fr. Agnelo have been preserved. Dr. Sergio Mascarenhas in his book “Xant ani Bollvont” states: “It appears the place was reserved for him. After a few adjustments, that was a perfect place for the remains of Ven. Fr. Agnelo. He has looked with favour on his lowly servant. The Almighty has done great things for me. The one who in his life had not looked for honours, now was suddenly glorified.” Today Pilar is a place of pilgrimage for people from all over the world. The pilgrims are pouring in at Fr. Agnelo's tomb to honour and invoke him. Over 100.000 favours have been obtained so far through his intercession and now there are centres of Fr. Agnelo's devotion in Goa, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Vadtal, Kalianpur, South Andamans, Daman, Nagar-Haveli, New Delhi , Ranchi and in many countries abroad. Indeed, it is abundantly true what Fr. Agnelo has said in his lifetime: “There is nothing better than to be a saint, even the bones of the saints are venerated.”
